Janice Mah - Women's beginner clinic
How did you get into cycling?
I always loved biking as a kid then I kind of forgot about it; work and family became my focus. Getting back into fitness I fell in love with spin classes and started spinning six times a week. Then a good friend suggested road cycling, so I bought a bike… the big draw for me was being outside and riding around our amazing city.
What is unique about coaching women?
Women have a huge thirst for information, they want the why, when and the how….. these are confidence building tools. Women tend to underestimate their abilities but at the same time are very coachable, hard working and motivated to succeed.
Whats is your day job?
I am a wife and Mother Bear of three teenagers and I am a Holistic Nutritionist. I run a nutrition business consulting, educating and supporting people to eat and live their best lives. I run kitchen workshops and consultations to help people implement positive nutritional changes.

How did you get into cycling?
I first got introduced to cycling through watching the Tour de France with my dad every year. One day we were out for a ride and I asked to try his road bike instead of my mountain bike, and from then on the rest was history. I went on to race almost every kind of cycling from road to cyclocross to cross country mountain biking. I’ve even been told I look more comfortable on two wheels than my own two feet! In addition to riding and racing I have worked in the cycling industry for 9 years with experience in sales, service, and management.
If you were a new cyclist again, what would you want your coach to tell you?
I would want to be told more about muscle development and the importance of stretching and cross training. I used to think if I rode a lot and always rode hard I would get faster. Only later did I start to learn to train smarter rather than harder!
What is your day job?
I just graduated from UBC so for now I am a Financial Advisor at TD on weekdays and I work at La Bicicletta in West Vancouver on the weekends. If I’m not working, I’m probably riding!

How did you get into cycling?
Ever since I could remember, I’d always ridden a bike, whether it was for fun or fitness. I’d always been a competitor in sport. In the early days, I was a middle distance track runner and eventually moved to triathlon & bike racing. I’ve ridden by bike A LOT, and still try to get out there. In 1996, I created Athletic Endeavours Personal Training & Coaching Services. This pretty much entailed what I was passionate about: endurance sport and strength training. Cycling is and will always be a huge part of who I am. I’d way rather ride my bike than drive and am fortunate that I have that option.
What should people expect from your clinic?
Enjoyment, plain & simple. Whether you’re at the front or back of the pack, you will always learn something, and have fun doing it! There will always be an air of all-inclusiveness when I’m coaching a group. Everyone has a different story to tell and we’re all here to listen!
What is your day job?
I work full time as a coach & trainer of Athletic Endeavours Personal Training & Coaching Services.
